District Governor 2023-24 Shanon O'Toole



Shanon was born in Missouri, raised in Houston Texas, and worked in Atlanta Georgia before discovering Southern Indiana in 2007.  

After being a Rotary guest speaker several times she was invited by PDG Jim Gislason to join Rotary in 2010.  Shanon proudly served as the 101st President of the Vincennes Rotary Club in 2015-16 and will be the 10th District Governor from the Rotary Club of Vincennes. Shanon will follow Lance Eberle of Bloomington as District Governor. Recent Governors from the Vincennes Rotary Club are Kirk Bouchie 2021-22, Laura Carie 2016-17, Steve LaRoche 2010-11, Jim Gislason 1997-98.

Shanon currently serves our District Governor Elect. She is a Rotary Foundation Major Donor, Paul Harris Society member and a Polio Plus Society Member.  Shanon has been recognized in her club as New Rotarian of the Year, Rotarian of the Year and District 6580’s President of the Year.  Shanon has served as her clubs membership chair, visioning chair, public relations chair, and many committees.  She has previously been involved in District 6580 as RLI Coordinator, membership, public relations, facilitating visioning, and has facilitated at PETS.

In her community, Shanon serves as the President of the Purdue Extension Advisory Board, Past two- time President and Executive board member of the Daviess County Chamber of Commerce, founding board member of Leadership Daviess County, Grant advisor for Daviess County Community Foundation, United Way of Daviess County Foundation Community Investment committee and Campaign Cabinet Member.  She is past President of Knox County LWV, Co-founder of Up with Knox County, and a previous board member of KCUW, KC Elks Officer, Leadership Knox County board member, Chairman and Board Member of the National New Year’s Eve Watermelon Drop.

Professionally, Shanon has a B.A. in Business Management from William Woods University.  Before moving to Southern Indiana Shanon managed Industrial and Technical Recruiting Agencies in Houston and Atlanta from 1989 to 2003, then continued her “match making” as part of teams launching two different Tech Start-up Companies in the Advanced Technology Development Center incubator at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.  In 2007 she moved to Vincennes and began her media career.  Shanon is the Director of Business Development for a privately held media company.  TOC Direct Media is the largest private media company in Southwest Indiana and Southern Illinois.  Shanon works with traditional media (radio and direct mail) and new media (digital marketing).

Shanon is proud of her Missouri Ozark roots, Texas history, Georgia experience and is absolutely a Hoosier by Choice!  Shanon is a competitor at heart! She was an age group and collegiate swimmer who competed both nationally and internationally. She is a die hard, life-long Kansas City Chiefs fan and loves the Houston Astros.  She enjoys everything in and on the water!  (Fishing, boating, jet skiing, swimming, tubing, kayaking, and paddle boarding).  She is an advocate for pet rescue/adoption. Shanon absolutely loves and spoils her two amazing, high energy, beautiful K9 kiddos, Maggie Mae and Mahomes!

District 6580 selects Megan Gearhart as Global Grant Scholar
The District 6580 Global Grant Scholarship Committee has selected IU graduate Megan Gearhart of Roanoke, Indiana for the 2023-24 scholarship. Megan will use the $40,000 award to pursue a Joint Masters of Law in International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development, plus Global Policy Development, through Erasmus Mundus, a European Union program. Her host club will be the Rotary Club of Olomouc City, Czech Republic.
